Introducing us
The Asociación Paleontológica Argentina ( Argentinian Paleontological Association , A.P.A. ), is a scientific, non-profit, non-gubernamental organisation (NGO) founded the 25 November 1955. Its activities, although mainly oriented toward the national realm, are often projected beyond frontiers. Pursuing its foundational aims, the Association, through its permanent action over almost half a century, has gathered people interested in palaeontology and stratigraphy all along the country, contributing to the organisation and development of those disciplines, either struggling for protecting and curating collections and palaeontological sites in the Argentinian territory, encouraging their being rigorously studied, organising or endorsing scientific meetings, round tables and conferences on the discipline, uninterruptedly since 1957 publishing, a specialised journal, Ameghiniana , whose name honours the illustrious Argentinian scholar, as well as other periodic publications. Thus, the results of the investigations of Argentinian and foreign colleagues on all aspects of Palaeontology, either basic or applied, have found their way to reach the specialised public.
The Association's central office is located in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but members from all over the world are eagerly accepted. The interests of its members (mostly professional palaeontologists but also students and amateurs) include all aspects of Palaeontology (Invertebrates, Vertebrates, Palaeobotany, Micropalaeontology, Ichnology, Palinology, Biostratigraphy, Palaeoecology, Taphonomy, Palaeobiogeography, etc.). Members receive the free Newsletters (Boletines Informativos), through which the information of general and particular interest swiftly sees the light. They further benefit from special offers when purchasing publications and when they take the updating courses given by the Association. In this site, news, announcements, editorial instructions can be consulted. Moreover, the application form can be downloaded and later sent by fax or mail. |
